A Marriage Made in Paradise

August 17th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

I am excited about the Marriage Enrichment Seminar our church is hosting this coming Saturday, August 26. Our guest speaker is Dr. Dan Reed, who has been in ministry for more than 40 years. Dr. Reed married his high school sweetheart, Donna, and they have five children and nine grandchildren. Whether you are in the honeymoon stage of your marriage or have been married for decades, this Marriage Enrichment Seminar will equip you with practical truths from God’s Word that will safeguard your home. Marriages are crumbling like never before, and we must do all that we can to fortify our own hearts and homes from Satan’s subtle attacks. Satan destroys homes by redefining marriage, by promising fulfillment through pornography, by planting roots of bitterness between spouses, by causing us to consider adultery acceptable, and by convincing us that our marriage needs no improvement. Prevention is always the best form of protection. By equipping our minds and hearts with biblical truths, we can have a strong, thriving, happy marriage that honors God. Rachel and I look forward to seeing you there! -Pastor Dale Montgomery

Celebrating Seven Years!

August 3rd, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

Happy seventh anniversary to Savannah River Baptist Church! It hardly seems possible that our church is turning seven years old. Following God’s leading, Rachel and I moved to the Savannah, Georgia area, and we held our first church service in the banquet room of a nearby hotel in August of 2010. For the first several years our Wednesday midweek Bible study was held in the living room of our town home. In 2014, God miraculously answered the prayers of our church family by giving us 30.1 acres of land at the unbelievable price of $57,000. Over the past seven years, we have seen many people trust Christ as their Savior and follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. We have actively worked at knocking on doors and spreading the gospel throughout the greater Savannah community. The Lord has steadily added many wonderful people to our church throughout the past seven years and it has been a joy to be co-laborers together in the work of the Lord. Last year we held our very first service in our first building. To God be the glory! Savannah River Baptist Church has a bright future and, by God’s grace, we will continue to follow the pattern found in Acts 5:42, “they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

God is Answering Prayer!

July 25th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

In the early years of our church we were given a 15 passenger 1994 dodge van which has been such a blessing. Over the past several months the van has become beyond repair. We rejoice that God has answered our prayer to provide the funds for a new church van! An anonymous donor agreed to match gifts for a church van up to $3,000 and over the past several weeks our church family has been working toward that goal. This past Sunday God supplied another anonymous gift of $10,000 toward the purchase of a new van. God rewards the faith of His people when we simply trust Him to supply the need. Pray with us that God will lead us to the exact van that He desires for us to have, and that a great number of people will be ministered to through this eternal investment.

Continuing Revival

July 25th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

The Revive America Weekends throughout the month of July have been a blessing to our church. Many of our church members have shared how God has been working in their own heart through the revival services. The fellowship dinners before the services have also been refreshing and delicious. Each of the preachers that the Lord sent our way were spot on in their messages challenging each one of us to live a life of unwavering commitment to Christ. Satan tries to do everything possible to confuse believers about our need for genuine revival. Revival is not a spooky, eerie feeling that comes over us. Biblical revival is not something to be feared, it is something to be enjoyed. It is simply returning back to normal New Testament Christian living; walking in the fear of the Lord and in sweet fellowship with our precious Lord Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit continue to stir our hearts about our need to live day by day in a consistent state of revival.

A Revived Church

July 14th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

It is truly refreshing to be a part of a local church family that enjoys serving the Lord together. I love to hear the buzz of conversation with one another before a service begins. It’s thrilling to see folks get out of their seat to go and greet church guests to make them feel welcome. It’s refreshing to see Christians stay after a service has ended and enjoy the sweet fellowship with another believer. It’s a blessing to know that throughout any given week there are many people devoting their time and energy to come and clean the church, to cut the grass, to make visits, and to prepare a Sunday school lesson. The heart that we have toward our local church is the heart that we have toward the Lord. May God continue to revive us that we would become a church that has 100% participation from every church member. When we all do our part, God will do the impossible.

The Blessing of Spiritual Leaders

July 7th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

I praise the Lord for the spiritual leaders that God has put into my life. Spiritual leadership is greatly needed in local churches today because few people are willing to pay the high cost to being a godly example. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples and that is what a true spiritual leader actively does. Spiritual leaders must be a person of integrity before God and other men. They must be willing to stand up and stand out from the crowd. They must walk in humility and not in self-confidence. Without spiritual leadership, young believers will not mature and the unsaved will remain unreached. Thank God for the spiritual leaders in your life and determine to become the spiritual leader to others that God has called you to be.

Where Freedom Comes From

June 28th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

How wonderful it is to live in a free country! The principles of freedom are based upon the Bible. The rights to worship, seek justice, live in peace, own property, and the right to live are all derived from our Creator and taught in Scripture. America is free because America was founded upon these Bible principles. Freedom is not a gift from government, but from God. The longer a nation chooses to ignore God and the truths of the Bible, the greater the loss of liberty that nation will experience. As Americans, and most importantly, as Christians, we must awake out of our spiritual slumber and return back to God in order for our freedom to continue. Our nation is spiritually complacent toward God and that is why we must have revival. Liberty is in the balance.

Happy Father’s Day!

June 14th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

God has commissioned every father to lovingly lead, protect, and provide for his family. Being a father is a tremendous privilege and responsibility. As we honor our fathers on this Father’s Day weekend, let us also meditate on our amazing heavenly Father Who is the supreme example to every earthly father. Whether your father is alive or has passed, whether he was a godly man or an ungodly man, we all have the same opportunity to enjoy a special Father-child relationship with God. He created you. He loves you. He affirms us when we do right and chastens us when we do wrong. If you are a father, follow the heavenly Father’s example. If God has forgiven you of your sins and made you a new creation, live to please Him! Happy Father’s Day!

Great Is Thy Faithfulness!

June 2nd, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

We serve a faithful God! Every day we wake up we see all around us the proofs of God’s faithfulness. We don’t have to worry about whether or not the sun will rise. We don’t have to guess about whether or not God will provide food for us to eat. Witnessing God’s faithfulness should cause us to praise him. He is not a make-believe or an artificial God Who has no power or ability. He is a present God who is actively involved in our daily lives. Faithful in creation. Faithful to keep His promises. Faithful to forgive. Faithful to guide. Are we faithful to give Him the praise He deserves?

Singing in the Storm

May 26th, 2017 | Pastor Dale Montgomery

Not too long ago after a storm had just passed, our children noticed a little bird singing at the top of its lungs. The clouds were still gray, and the ground was still wet, but the bird still had its song. Life is filled with storms. These storms can be dark and scary, and drench every part of our lives. However, for the Christian, the storm can’t steal our song. Scripture repeatedly exhorts us to sing unto the Lord. Psalm 95:1 “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” Maybe a storm has blown into your life this week or maybe a storm is just up ahead. Either way, keep right on singing because God is stronger than the storm.
